The first day of Spring had been fairly generous, Tessa feeling closer to her goal of setting up a chicken coop. Vigorous activity after not performing much of any activity for awhile caused this girl to need a full day of recovery. Surely today wouldn't be similar to her first. 'I can't keep taking a day break at a time! Hopefully my body will get used to this.' She thought.
Tessa had woken up refreshed. The spring sunshine peering through the windows of her bedroom. She had showered the night before, wanting to get a move on immediately. Her clothes were carefully folded atop her charcoal colored dresser: a black tank top, faded jean shorts, black ankle socks, black converse shoes and of course her olive green scarf. Slipping into her tank top, jeans and shoes and socks, she finished off her attire wrapping her scarf around her neck. Right hand slipped between her neck and the scarf to peer at her scar momentarily, keeping her memory fresh of her accident as she did every morning. It kept her strong and pushing forward.
Axe and olive green pack were laying against the wall next to the entryway for her to conveniently grab as she exited her house. It sure was a blessing that she only had to walk a hundred feet or so into the middle of the forest to start her collection efforts. Even better that her property lined up with the lake so she could relax afterwards and catch some fish. Name of the game today was conserving energy so that she didn't get as fatigued as two days ago. There was a smaller but firmer looking pine tree almost presenting itself to her in Tessa's path that seemed to be calling her name. "Guess I'll start here." She set her pack down laying against the trunk of a neighboring tree and grabbed her copper axe with her right hand. Lining up her knuckles on the wooden handle, she took a handful of deep breaths, stretching out her back and straightening her posture. Eyes transitioned to the portion of the trunk she would be chopping, preparing to hit the trunk at that exact location. With one last deep breath, Tessa released the weight of the axe upon the bark, chunking it to reveal the light colored wood inside. This smaller tree took quite a few less swings and before she knew it she was already yelling... "TIMBER!"
