After arriving at the town, it wasn't too far of a walk to get to the address where Hunter was supposed to be meeting this small-town's Mayor. That felt like a weird thought, in his head. He was being shown around his home... by the mayor. Shouldn't a mayor have more important things to do? Ehh, it wasn't his place to judge; he'd see what kind of person they were for himself. He had no belongings with him, other than the clothes on his back. Supposedly, the house was to come at least partially furnished, which, from Hunter's view outside the nice little house, wasn't too hard to believe. His personal belongings should be arriving at the post office within a few days. Until then, he'd be sleeping on the couch... not that he particularly minded. Not that he had much other than posters and pictures, either. Hunter stood, casually slouched over, hands in his pockets, while he waited. He had a slight grin on his face as he made plans for what he'd get accomplished today. He did look a little weird, probably, leaning against a house that wasn't (yet) his, but he didn't particularly mind. It would be his, if he got his say.
NPC Account I hope the furniture assumption I made is okay! Also, omg I love him.

Rays of sunshine had decided to bless the island with its presence today, opposite of the overcast weather from the previous day. Sunny days always brought a more cheery smile to Vivian's already joyous face as she strode through town square, waving at each townsfolk in greeting. There was nothing more in life she had wanted than to be mayor of this island; help out the islanders in any way she could and bring joy to those that may not feel as joyous as her. The silver haired woman had such an infectious personality, you couldn't dare have a frown around her.
As she neared the end of the town, she performed her usual of bending down at one of the orange floral bushes and plucking, delicately, one of the opened buds and sliding it behind her right ear interlaced between ivory strands of hair. The coastal farms weren't far out of town, and well nothing was particularly "far" on this island so she was there within a few minutes. Vivian locked her eyes onto a young man with bright blonde hair, hands in his pockets waiting for her. Oh I hope I'm not late. She thought as she sped up her step a little, waving from a distance once their eyes locked. "Hello! So sorry if I'm late. Vivian Sherman, Mayor of Tranquil Island, pleased to meet you." Once she was within range, the mayor extended out her right pale hand in greeting.
They were at the house entry overlooking the property. "I assume you've seen the size of the property all flat land with a well and a few pre-tilled plots for planting. Let's see the inside." Removing a key chain containing two keys to the front door, she unlocked it and swung open the oak wood door. Inside was fairly small, a kitchen directly forward as you entered with a small table and two chairs, and then two other rooms: a bedroom and bathroom. Simple for the typical simple farmer. "Do you have any questions? Looks like this is currently priced at...16,000G." She wasn't trying to rush him, just offered up herself to answer questions, waiting patiently near the front door with her clipboard containing the deed should he wish to purchase.

While he waited, he surveyed the property, imagining what it could be in his mind's eye. It would be large and grand; he'd make a name for himself, in this small-town. He didn't particularly care for making it big overall; just locally "famous". Known among the ranchers of this town for his animals. He was so immersed in thought that, at first, he didn't notice the Ray of Sunshine walking his way. She looked not too much older than him, if he was being honest. A new neighbor, coming to greet him? That didn't seem... likely. Either way, he couldn't help pulling himself from the wall and pulling out a hand to return the shake with. His eyes widened slightly, at hearing that she was the mayor, but that did explain his biggest question, the 'Why?'. He grinned and returned the greeting. "It's nice to meet you, too, Mayor Sherman." His words themselves were formal, but they had a warm tone to them. He was genuinely happy to meet someone to important to the Island. He nodded at ner next statement, unsure how to say or express how excited he was about this. "Mhmm." When she turned away to unlock the door, he rubbed at the back of his neck, where his hair started to grow longer near the top. His smile turned to a faint grimace at how dumb he sounded. When she turned around, however, the smile was back. He entered the house, looking around with a smirk and a glint in his eyes, imagining how he'd spice up the place. She spoke again, this time asking him if he had any questions, "Uhh." he said, not too quick on the uptake. "Not at the moment, Mayor," he began, "But if I have anything, I might stop by town hall, if that's not an issue?" He paused for a moment, before continuing, "Anyways, yeah! I'd love to buy the property!"

The man, who she had known was Hunter only based on the appointment notice, was very polite and respectful. At his response to having questions, her face lit up with that joyous, infectious smile. "Oh that would be wonderful. I don't get many visitors so you're welcome anytime." Realizing that she sounded a bit of a loner, it really wasn't the case. She sought out her social life, connecting with townsfolk in the town square and stopping by some of the more recreational places such as the lake and beach on occasion. Not many people had a need to come into her office since she did property visits and such, but it was nice of him to offer.
With confirmation that he wanted to purchase the property, Vivian became even more overjoyed. Within a week span Tranquil had welcome three new ranchers. This would surely please the Harvest Goddess and hopefully each had a great drive to assist in restoration of the island. Glancing down at the paperwork on her clipboard, she handed it over to Hunter, a blue pen tucked neatly under the clasp holding the paper to the board. "If you'll just sign two copies to the deed, it's all yours! And of course payment." She chuckled slightly, covering her mouth as she did so, rose color flushing ever so slightly on her pale cheeks.

That sounded nice. Hunter smiled back at the petite woman who ran this town's inner workings. She seemed nice and even if she was --probably-- only being professional; she made it feel like he already had a friend here on the Island. "I'll remember that."When the unsigned deed was handed over, he was more than happy to take it from her. He took a moment to look it over --not because he mistrusted it, but because that was just Him. He was the kind of person to at least skim every bit of paperwork he was given, if not fully read it. After he was finished, he went to sign it. He was in the middle of dotting his is and crossing his ts on the first sheet, when he full-on stopped. He stood there, almost frozen in time for a moment, before his eyes darted up to the Mayor. "I'm sorry ma'am." He stated, "I just realized I never introduced myself; I'd just assumed you'd know, from the appointment. Which, you probably do." He grimaced a bit, "But, anyways, it's Hunter; Hunter Richter."He finished off the first sheet and signed the second sheet in quick succession, before handing her back the clipboard, with one of the deeds still on it, alongside his payment.

Pleasantly surprised at the young man's remark, she had hoped to find some friendship in the townsfolk rather than solely being their mayor figure. It was very hopeful but not quite out of reach. As she thought about it, he began signing the documents and circled back around to introduce himself. "Yes, pleased to meet you, Hunter. We are sure glad to see another rancher in our midst." Her smile became bigger yet again, emphasizing that she was hopeful that he would strive to make the island prosperous and healthy as it once was. Vivian could remember Tranquil before the Witch of Decay had decided to strangle it - probably about when she was eight or nine.
At handing her back one copy of the deed, she smiled politely. "Sorry I'll need that copy back really quick to give my sign of approval as well and then it's all yours! I'll keep this other copy in my office." Waiting for a moment to have the one deed returned, she signed it quickly and handed it back over to Hunter. "Also, would you like to name your ranch? If you don't know it now, you're always welcome to come down to town hall and let me know later." Yet another invitation to come see her. Honestly, she wasn't begging him to provide her with some company but for someone listening in it may have seemed that way.

Welp. Hunter's face turned beet-red when Vivian requested back his copy of the deed for her own signing. "Sorry 'bout that..." he muttered, handing the sheet back over. His fingers moved to tap at his thigh before jumping back up to take the paperwork back. He was excited, in a sorta-jumpy way. "Oh! Uhm..." She'd asked if he had any names in mind for his new property. He'd been thinking about it. In fact, he'd thought about it a lot. He'd had a ton of ideas! But now, that the moment was here..? He had none. "I don't mean to sound neglectful of this place, but, nnooope." He grimaced; he was doing that a lot today, huh? "I'll definitely have to stop by later when I've got my life figured out, aye?""Anyways, I'd like to get my butt in gear while it's still morning, if that's a'ight?" He held out a hand in a way that could either be taken as an invitation for another shake, or as if asking for the keys. "I feel like I'm gonna like this town, Mayor Sherman. Thanks for getting me set up." He sorta hoped maybe he'd see her around town later. That wouldn't be something he'd mind at all.

The young mayor watched as the man's face turned a shade of pink, embarrassed that he didn't realize she needed to sign. A polite smile formed on her lips, reassuring and sweet. "No worries at all!" Quickly she had signed and returned his copy and notated that he didn't currently have a name for the property. "I'm sure a name will come in time. We are so glad to have you and I can't wait to see what you make of this place!" Vivian was always so cheery and uppity that sometimes it rubbed people the wrong way or made them feel as though she was being 'fake' with them, but in reality that was just her spirit and personality. She hoped that most of the time she could rub off on people, even those that may normally wear a frown.
As she placed her clipboard and copy of the deed neatly into her satchel, her purple eyes glanced up to lock with his crystal blues, mentioning him getting started for the day. "That's all from me! I'll get outta your hair." She smiled sweetly and gave him a curtsy, almost old time-y feeling but she loved to show respect and kindness where she could. Placing his set of keys on the table near the front door, her eyes turned towards the door, collecting the last of her things and scanning to make sure she didn't leave anything. "I hope to see you around."

First Big Step Once left alone, Hunter looked around the house more carefully than he had previously. It appeared to need some dusting, but otherwise was in good shape. He took a moment to attempt to picture the house with his own personal touch ups --some posters, pictures, and and a splash of color from blankets and curtains. He noted that there were three tools in a trunk next to the door (A Watering Can, a Hoe, and a Sickle). He'd leave everything in its place for now and grab the keys lying on the side table before moving to head out and lock the door. He kept his hand on the lock for a moment longer than necessary, drawing in a deep breath. Then he released it as he turned around and looked again at the property. He stood there for a long moment, just looking. He imagined what it might look like, here, on the beach-side, with plenty of animals and a small amount of crops growing. Then he moved to leave the ranch. Head out into the town. His plan to visit the general store and get some crops started today. [ EXIT ] | Action | Emphasis | "Speech" TAG: Nobody!
